Love and Love Only

Throughout the history of mankind, we as a world culture have made love out to be mysterious, complex, difficult, and indefinable. It’s the subject of endless poems and literary works. There is an enormous amount of material available out there about love, a lot of it contradictory. To me Love is:

Love is perfect, love is kind
It isn't just a peace of mind
Love is something you need to give
It is something you need to live
Love is also very unique
Love is great, love is loyal
It isn't something rotten or spoiled
Love can be love, love can be liked
To love as in use, it isn't right
Love can be friendship or husband and wife
In a relationship of love, you give your advice
Love can be happy, love can be sad
That doesn't mean to love is bad
To love someone can be such great pleasure
It’s what makes you and her one hell of a treasure
Love of course has its ups and downs
But, that doesn't mean that it's not around

But these days Love is being used as a weapon by both guys and girls who just don’t understand the pain that one undergoes when there is a break in the relationship. Love these days is being triggered by financial and sexual emotions rather than true inner feelings. Well if you wanna love someone all you gotta do is be loyal. But there is also this simple thing that one has to think before falling in love, cause you have gotta fall in love with someone you cannot live without and not the one who you can live with. I am not saying there is no true love these days. I know of this girl whose name I do not wanna mention who was in love with this guy for the past 6 years and married him only this September.

Well I am no excuse to this; I too have faced the bitter feeling s that one experiences after a relationship breakage. My ex- girlfriend had a pretty good excuse to break up with me, “I don’t Like your mom she said” (A very valid excuse I must say) But I thought she was in love with me not with my mom (I don’t give a damn though)

I guess this is not just my problem but a lot of people just don’t understand that Love is not meant to be played with. If you have anything to say about this both positive and negative please feel free to enter your comments. Anonymous comments also welcome. Cya in my Next Blog!!!

Donald Rumsfeld

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld attempted to boost troop morale today. Here is an excerpt of an article that appeared in The New York Times under the headline "Troops' Queries Leave Rumsfeld on the Defensive," by Eric Schmitt

Mr. Rumsfeld, seemingly caught off guard by the sharp questioning, responded that the military was producing extra armor for Humvees and trucks as fast as possible, but that the soldiers would have to cope with equipment shortages. "You go to war with the Army you have, not theArmy you might want or wish to have at a later time," he said.Specialist Thomas Wilson, a scout with a Tennessee National Guard unit set to roll into Iraq this week, was the first to step forward, saying that soldiers had had to scrounge through landfills here for pieces of rusty scrap metal and bulletproof glass - what they called "hillbilly armor" - to bolt to their trucks."Why don't we have those resources readily available to us?" Specialist Wilson asked Mr. Rumsfeld, drawing cheers and applause from many of the 2,300 soldiers assembled in a cavernous hangar here to meet the secretary.A few minutes later, a soldier from the Idaho National Guard's 116th Armored Cavalry Brigade asked Mr. Rumsfeld what he and the Army were doing "to address shortages and antiquated equipment" that will affect National Guard soldiers heading to Iraq.Mr. Rumsfeld seemed taken aback by the question and a murmur began spreading through the ranks before he silenced it. "Now, settle down, settle down," he said. "Hell, I'm an old man, it's early in the morning and I'm gathering my thoughts here."Mr. Rumsfeld, 72, said all organizations had equipment, materials and spare parts of different vintages, but he expressed confidence that Army leaders were assigning the newest and best equipment to the troops headed for combat who needed it most. He said adding more armor to trucks and battle equipment did not make them impervious to enemy attack. "You can have all the armor in the world on a tank and a tank can be blown up," he said. "And you can have an up-armored Humvee and it can be blown up."

I say: What a way to boost morale! In essence, Rumsfeld was saying that since most of you are going to be wounded or die in the quagmire of Iraq anyway, they are trying to achieve this result as cheaply as possible as a result of their poor planning. Maybe if the Defense Department and White House would have planned this unnecessary war better, and accounted for variables such as a prolonged insurrection and bitter Iraqi civilian attitudes toward the U.S. Military, then they wouldn't have what could amount to a muntiny on their hands.

Kudos to Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and, of course, the old man, Donald Rumsfeld!

Coffee Crazy!!!

The Qwikys coffee pub was the talk of the town when it set itself up in sterling road(Right down the road from my College) some years back. Though the idea of a coffee pub is a borrowed concept, it was new to Chennaites who were eager to find a place to hang out, rather than the beach and the park. Later on, "Free entry and exit" permitted Barista and coffee day to enter the market and share the profits. Coffee Day, Qwikys, Barista, Star Bucks have penetrated the market and is reaching out to the public and are making money big time. For college students in particular it is almost a status symbol to go to these joints. A coffee which can be bought for Rs.5 at Nescafe outlets can be bought for anything from Rs.35 to Rs.160 by just changing its name to “Cappuccino” and a cold coffee which can be bought for Rs.7 is sold for anything from Rs.40 to Rs.180 and called as “Mochachillo” or “Frappe”. I must admit some of these coffees are very tasty but the hefty price tag is an issue which needs to be taken into account. The price might not be a bother to everyone but most of us college students can take our lunch for 3 days in our college canteen instead of spending Rs.80 for one coffee.

This is not the case of Chennai alone, in all the metros and in places like Bangalore, Goa, Hydrebad these outlets are enjoying big money from students. If you think at least small cities are spared --- NO. At this rate they will reach these cities and even towns within the next 3 Years.

These people do not sell just coffees, they sell status and this status is bought by us the college students. I am no exception to these so called cool joints to hang out. I frequent these places almost twice in a week. You would be almost surprised to know that I know every person who serves me my coffee. They come to me and ask me “Just the usual right”. They know very well that I take a “Frappe” and a “Chilly Cheese Toast” and as for my bill Rs.45 for my Frappe and Rs.25 for my Chilly Cheese Toast so that’s Rs.70 and here is the tricky part there is a 7% Service Charge for the bill but I get it without the service charge cause I am a regular Customer. So I spend Rs.140 in a Week that comes to Rs.560 in a month (This is the Minimum). So if we take an average and I spend Rs.600 in a month then that is Rs.7200 in a year (Whoa I never knew I was spending so much) My pocket money is Rs.1500 a month so if I am spending Rs.600 for Coffee then 40% of my pocket money is spent on Coffee (I should stop going to these Places, Man these guys cheat you)

So all I am asking you to do is think about it, “Is all that coffee worth it.”

This is not wholly my idea, I got this crazy idea of writing this blog after talking with Manoj about places to hang out, So I hope he’ll have some gr8 points to add to this blog so please do add in your comments and Check out the Comment section in my Blog.

Name on Indian Express

Hey Friends,

Some amazing news my name got published in the Indian Express (dated 27th November-City Express Chennai Edition)as the Layout Designer of Oikonomikos 2004. I really didn’t think they would give a special mention to the Designer. I guess they too liked my designs. (Woooow!!!) That’s it for now catch ya in my next Blog.

Oikonomikos Release

Today was the release of Oikonomikos 2004. (The annual magazine by the department of Economics Loyola College) Why was I so hyped up about it? Simple, I had done the layout. I wanted to know what everyone thought about my designs in the magazine. The layout had come out well atleast to my knowledge, yet I was no exemption to the tension that creeps up on every one. The function began with the prayer song (oh why don’t you just release the damn magazine) I simply couldn’t stand the tension. (The fun part is I of all people was so anxious) Then the magazine was released following the welcome address. I was filled with extreme joy because this was my first layout and it had been released (Finally a little drop of tension) Now the principal came out to speak he said, “I really love this magazine not only for its content but also for its layout” (wow Relax dude, I told myself) “It is of International Standards, I am really impressed.” (I had definitely made the principal jump in his seats) Honestly speaking I can’t stand critics!!!(Simple, They keep saying so many things about other peoples stuff but can’t come up with anything good themselves) It had been all praises from then on about the magazine and almost everyone made a special mention about the layout. (They made me stand up bow to everyone over and over again; oh I was starting to get fed up of it.) Then came one of the chief guests, Sivagami IAS who said everything is good in the magazine except why did you have to make all the pages gray in colour. It is hard to read you know( Women if you have a sight problem use glasses) Anyway the function got over and I had a ball of a time eating the special buffet lunch(mmmmmm delicious)prepared for the editorial team and crew who worked for the magazine.

Special thanks to my friends; Johnna who helped me in taking a few snaps for the magazine, and Surya who let me work at his place. (Especially when my mom kicked me out for doing too much of work, and said you need some rest.)

If I forgot to mention someone else in this please forgive me I owe all of you a gr8 deal. Thank a lot for all that you have done for me.
