The Christmas Bash

Hi Friends,

I am setting out to write my Blog after ages and I am only grateful to having gone to the CIT 76 Friendship Meet for this….

This Christmas was like none other, I definitely had the time of my life. My Dad told me that he is having a re-union of his Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) 1976 Batch. He said it was gonna take place at Mayajaal Resorts. Initially I thought, “A Re-union of old people after 29 years”, “That is so Dumb”, “What am I gonna do in a place for boring old people” “I don’t wanna spend my Christmas in this fashion” After so many Negative thoughts clouded my mind this friend of my Dad came home and said that he needed my help in organising stuff for the Re-union. I was wondering what this guy wanted me to do in an Oldies Party. He told me that there are going to be lot of Kids, People my age and the wives of all the CITians of the 76 Batch. This kind of made me curious to know as to what kind of help he wanted. He told me that my dad had told him about me being able to organise stuff easily, so he wanted me to organise the whole thing. For a second there I thought I was dreaming. ME gonna organise a party…. Yippie… Acting as though I was not excited I said, “Alright Uncle I’ll Do it”(Like I don’t wanna do it…Lol)

Here started the fun filled trips to Mayajaal, I had to go to Mayajaal thrice first time to interact with the manager of the Resort and check out details about where is what done there. The next rip was to finalize the cost for each room and food for all the guests. The third time to check out the preparations. I had the chance to arrange a MC for conducting the various sessions in the Schedule that I had planned out, a DJ for the party at Night and a Magician to entertain the kids.

So here is where the Action Starts:

It is the 25th Morning, I start at 4 in the Morning and I have to go to Egmore station with my Dad to get some People and send them to Mayajaal, There where 3 trains in which people where coming 5:00, 5:30, 6:30 respectively, Finally by 7 me and my dad managed to put everyone in Cabs and send them off to Mayajaal. WE come back home pick up my mom and set out to Mayajaal.

Mayajaal’s On-Shore Resort, lovely place has beautiful cottage style rooms, So after Checking In we have breakfast I go around trying to socialize and finally met some really nice People, First there was Varun who is in his 3rd Year Bio-Technology at SRM Engg College, the there was this girl Pooja who just finished her Bachelors in Communication in Australia, and finally there was Prabhu who is Pooja’s brother who is in the 11th Grade. The 4 of us were kinda stuck with each other throughout the 2 Days.

After making friends there was the first session where everyone went as a family and introduced themselves. This was really a fun filled session especially because all the parents were like pulling each others legs just as how we do in our colleges, this definitely taught me one thing and that would be, “Age doesn’t matter, all that matters is the wonderful thing in life known as FRIENDSHIP

After that the four of us left to Mayajaal where we played bowling like Mad and enjoyed ourselves to the core… After getting totally exhausted we left back to the resort for a well deserved Meal.

Once Lunch was over we left to the Sports club and started to play Pool and after playing pool for 3 hours(I know this would make a lot of my friends Jealous but isn’t that why I am stressing on 3 Hours…lol) we returned back to the resort for tea and just chilled out for a while and then the fun began again where the kids enjoyed the Magic Show. WE as usual hung out in the back row making fun of different people and having a Ball…

Then we had Dinner followed by some performances by different people especially by the Kids. It was fun to watch the kids singing their Nursery Rhymes and Dancing for different songs… I too joined in the Fun by singing my personal Favourite “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” and also proclaiming to the world that I am Single(lol) It was appreciated a lot by all the people I suppose I would have gotten more appreciation If I sung a Nursery Rhyme but anyways I had fun making a fool of myself… Then the real party started by 10:30 where People had 3 Options

  1. Watch a Movie in Mayajaal
  2. Drink like MAD
  3. Party like Crazy

I being a Crazy creature decide to Party like Crazy, And as the DJ was playing we just Danced the Night away, Time played spoil sport in the Party as before I knew it, it was already 5:30 AM so all of totally exhausted went back to our rooms for some nice rest and then took a Shower and got out for Coffee.

December 26th was going to be different today after breakfast we proceeded to Dakshina Chitra, for those of you who do not know what this place is it is a place full of houses in different forms of South Indian Architecture. IT may sound boring to some of you but it was certainly a great place to Chill out with my new Buddies.

After spending the morning at Dakshina Chitra we left to a Beach House near Mutukadu where we had our lunch and also celebrated Pooja’s Birthday. I wish it was my Birthday but anyways I am sure she would always remember this birthday of hers. After spending some time Chilling out at the beach, I returned back home cherishing each and every moment that I spent in the 2 Days all because of CIT 76 Batch.

I am not sure if I will be having a Re-union of my college mates after 25 years, But I definitely hope that all of you reading this, should definitely meet up and do something like this, I am sure we will all have a ball…

Until Next Time It’s GoodBye From ME

Astalavista Baby…

P.S. Oh Yeah, Belated Christmas Wishes and Advance New Year Wishes to All of You

Eschew Obfuscation

Hi Friends,

It’s been reaaaaaaly long since I have written a blog, but now that my college is over I am hoping to write more often. Since I was terribly bored today I thought of finding out some Oxymorons and try to put it together as a story. So totally jobless Siggy set out to make a Story which is given below:-

Once there was a pretty ugly but awfully nice boy. He had a home office where he used Advanced Basic with effective compassion to earn his livelihood. He lived in Virtual Reality not caring about the Unbelievably Real world. He was alone in a crowd until he met a poor rich girl. Due to the opposite attraction between the two an incredibly real relationship had blossomed. But because of Bad Luck the girl had a tremendously small tumor that was severely killing the girl until one day she died. The boy was living dead, taking life slowly until his traumatic bonding made the boy completely destroyed and take a certain risk and become an ethical hacker and returned to his virtually real world. Hope you liked my Bitterly Sweet and short story.

I hope I managed to confuse all you people atleast to some extent with my Oxymorons and by the way for those of you who didn’t understand the meaning of the title “Eschew Obfuscation” it means Avoid Confusing…..lol… ha ha ha Bye n Take Care.

Cya in my next Blog!!!

Relationships ! ! !

Hi People,

Felt like letting out a couple of bad experiences that happened lately so here it is. Recently I have been having lots of problems especially relating to girls. These set of events are starting to cause problems in relationships with not only that particular girl but also among friends. On one side there is this one girl who goes around accusing me that I am trying to get her to propose to me and on the other side this other girl who walks into my house and starts a fight with my mom. All around my name has been getting destroyed to the core. (Like I give a Damn) But what is really pissing me off is the fact that a whole lot of my friends do not trust me. Relationships are built on Trust. But when the trust starts to fail relationships get trashed.

I thought of writing this blog just to share my personal experiences but now I want make it a little informative. Come to think of it we build relationships in a lot of places. If you ask me my Barber knows a lot of things about me and he doesn’t even have to ask me what to do he starts off clipping and talking about various events in my life and topics that I like. I know everyone who serves me my coffee at Barista and I actually know a couple of them inside out. Like this there are so many people we build relationships with. You may try to say they are only trying to get money from us and is their jobs but this relationship is the reason we do not go to any other outlet for coffee or any other barber for a haircut. This is what is known as Customer Relationship Management. Anyway I guess Life acts in mysterious ways and we just have to take one day at a Time. So lets Rock On…..

What Pongal is all about?

The great diversity of Indian religious beliefs and the varied cultured traditions of the different states are very interesting and this is seen in the festival of Pongal.

May the pot of prosperity boil over,
May the Pongal that we cook,
The fragrance of turmeric
The taste of sugarcane,
Ginger and honey,
Bring the joy of Pongal,
into our homes,
May the blessings of the Sun God flood our lives.

With many other verses like this the people of Tamil Nadu greet the great festival of Pongal celebrated all over the South as Makar Sankranti, in Tamil Nadu it has an additional significance as Pongal welcomes the occasion of the incoming harvest.

This festival of Pongal falls in the month of January after the winter solistice and as such this Pongal festival marks the favourable course of the Sun. It is a three-day festival and the fourth day is a day for outdoors and excursions.

The first day is celebrated as the BHOGI PONGAL and is usually meant for domestic activities and of being together with the family members. This first day is celebrated in honour of Lord Indra, the supreme ruler of clouds that give rains. Homage is paid to Lord Indra for the abundance of harvest, thereby bringing plenty and prosperity to the land.

The second day of Pongal is known as SURYA PONGAL and is dedicated to the Sun God. On this day the granaries are full, sun shines brightly, trees are in full bloom, bird-songs resound in the air and hearts overflow with happiness that get translated into colourful and joyous celebrations. A plank is placed on the ground and Kolam designs are drawn on its sides. In the centre of the plank is drawn a large figure of the Sun God with his effulgent rays. The "Puja" of the Sun God starts after the auspicious moment of the birth of the new month THAI. Prayers are rendered to the Sun God to seek his benedictions.

The word 'Pongal' literally has two connotations. Firstly it is the name of the special dish cooked on this day and secondly the word "Ponga" means "boil". So the word 'Pongal' means that which is overflowing.

The THIRD day is MATTU PONGAL which is the festival of cattle. To the village people cow, the giver of milk and the bull which draws the plough in the fields are very valuable and therefore the farmers honour their dumb friends by celebrating it as a day of thanks-giving to them. The cattle are washed, their horns are painted and covered with shining metal caps. Multi-coloured beads, tinkling bells, sheafs of corn and flower garlands are tied around their necks. They are fed with pongal and taken to the village centres. The resounding of their bells attract the villagers as the young men race each other's cattle. The entire atmosphere becomes festive and full of fun and revelry. Big commotion is seen when the game "Manji Virattu" starts in which groups of young men chase the running bulls.
Advance Pongal Wishes to All of You!!!

Media - "Good or Bad"

The Tsunami has ended, numerous lives were lost; It has indeed been a sad day for all of us. But what is even more sad is the attitude of the media with regard to this issue. Irrespective of all the hi-tech gadgets and modern equipments they were still not able to get any pictures of the tsunami hitting the coast. But all they have done is got footage of people weeping, dead bodies and the devastations caused by the tsunami and trying to show the aftereffects of the tsunami and romanticizing the whole issue. What rights do these people in the media have to go and get footage of people in such weird situations and try to market their channels. I would consider peeping Toms as better people than these attitudes.

Let me give you an example; I had gone to one of the relief camps to help some of the people who were affected by the tsunami, there a popular television channel reporter happened to drop by. What he did was really shocking he went looking around for people crying in the camps and went and said, “Innum nalla Azunga, appadi na than Cameralla nalla Varum” and “Maa unnaku nalla Azha theriyala ne oorama poi nillu” and “Ayya neengal ellam thalaiyula Kai vachuttu nillunga”. My blood started to so I went straight to him and asked him, “Do you know anything about Media Ethics” and ”Are you not Human Beings?” and guess what happens next I get kicked out of the relief camp for rude behavior.

I don’t mean to say that all media people are bad but people like them do give a bad name to the profession that is respected all over the world.

My deepest condolences to the lives lost during the Tsunami, but please remember that Nature cant be fought against!!!
